The IVY League is a 1-year personal development experience designed to bridge the P.E.A.R.L.S. Club with the personal growth and development lessons necessary to succeed in higher education. Focused on young women in the 9th and 10th grade, the IVY League offers an interactive opportunity to participate in workshops, training modules and core initiatives designed to ease the transition into high school, with a focus on the future.

The IVY League has been designed as a personal development initiative for young women. We believe that successful young women benefit from understanding Return on Investment at an early age. We, the women of Chi Chi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. would like the opportunity to invest in the long-term success of your daughter. As each participant decides to focus on her future, her vision and her dreams, she will have access to trainers, teachers and coaches who are committed to helping cultivate critical skills for life-long success. Although training modules are diverse, the program is anchored on 4 Core Themes:

  • Leadership - Leadership is about learning to lead yourself, as well as leading others. We acknowledge that we are living in unprecedented times, and we also know that leadership shapes individuals to navigate circumstances and situations beyond their control with a commitment toward excellence.

  • Life Skills - Life skills are made up of the many skills you need to manage the activities and challenges of everyday life effectively. Academic success is one critical factor in preparation for college. Yet, successful students master the books and the basics simultaneously. Cooking, shopping, budgeting and navigating where to go for help will carry our young ladies far.

  • Language - Teachers, college admissions staff and employers expect high school students to communicate effectively. Through activities that cultivate oral and written communication skills, the IVY League will focus on the development of language skills that allow participants to gain confidence in expressing their ideas in many different forms.

  • Love of Human Kind - You are a Philanthropist. Successful young people understand the importance of making a difference for others. Volunteerism, giving back, service and financially supporting mission driven work will serve as a core value of the program. Leaders are givers, too.

This 1-Year Personal Development Experience will feature the exploration of 7 training modules selected from the core program themes. Participants will work together as a cohort to select 3 of the training modules for the year.

9th and 10th grade students who accept the invitation to participate will be required to fulfill a minimum of 4 core training modules annually, to successfully complete the program. The return on investment will be high, for those who are prepared to put in the necessary work to learn, grow, dream and develop together. In an effort to shape personal preparedness for college life, higher education and beyond, the program is geared toward hard working young women who want to cultivate references for college, expand personal knowledge, build community with like- minded individuals and have fun in their education journey.

We are living in unprecedented times. The role of education remains critical to life success. Yet, academic success is not enough. Ivy League Leaders will work to develop a commitment for life- long learning, while focusing on the importance on giving back and making a difference for others.
