This 'vision fair' started as an inspiration of several general members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. in January of 2003. Three members of the sorority congruently had an idea to help birth another chapter in Indianapolis. The three members were Kiahna Davis, LaShon McCall, and Sherron Moore. In December of 2004, with over 70 members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. interested in this life-long journey, Emerging Pearls of Perfection became an interest group of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. For the next year and a half, the general members of Emerging Pearls of Perfection began providing programming in the community. Such activities and programming included Big Sister for a Day, Emerging Black Professional Awards, National Volunteer Day, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service, and a signature Charity Ball with a focus on HIV/AIDS awareness.
On May 21, 2005, Emerging Pearls of Perfection became Chi Chi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. under the Central Region leadership of Dorothy Buckhanan. Forty-seven members of Emerging Pearls of Perfection became charter members of Chi Chi Omega Chapter. Kiahna Davis became the first president of the chapter. |
