This 'vision fair' was inspired by several general members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. in January of 2003. In December of 2004, with over 70 members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. interested in this life-long journey, Emerging Pearls of Perfection became an interest group of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
Over the next year and a half, the general members of Emerging Pearls of Perfection began providing programming in the community. Such activities and programming included Big Sister for a Day, Emerging Black Professional Awards, National Volunteer Day, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service, and a signature Charity Ball with a focus on HIV/AIDS awareness.
On May 21, 2005, Emerging Pearls of Perfection became Chi Chi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. under the Central Region leadership of Dorothy Buckhanan. Forty-seven members of Emerging Pearls of Perfection became charter members of Chi Chi Omega Chapter. Kiahna Davis, organizer and interest group president, became the first president of the chapter.

Although EPF is a new foundation, our model and approach is created from 100 years of service provided to the community by college-educated women of color.
Established in 2007, several women in the Indianapolis community got together and formed this foundation to address funding needs of many programs that help to improve the quality of life of the citizenry. This group wanted to create a new culture of philanthropy that would capitalize on the ability to effectively tie the benefits of strategy giving and innovation resource develop It also aimed to limit and eliminate administrative costs associated with fundraising, meetings, and day to day operations to ensure that the resources raised were directed to the programs and services that fulfill the foundations mission.
EPF is a 501(c) 3 organization incorporated in the state of Indiana.
